Although the principles and safety regulations for radiation protection in general is the same as when applied for dentistry specific. However, the applications in dentistry is very unique to a certain extend. I would love to see that the dental world and the medical worlds collaborate to a greater extend in this regard. I am of the opinion that most oral health care workers needs to improve their knowledge, attitudes and practices in this regard.

Dental personnel must not expose any individual to the useful beam for training or demonstration purposes. In a rooms where X-ray equipment is used, post a sign (that may include the radiation symbol) stating: CAUTION X-RAYS. Dental X-ray equipment and imaging software should be operated only by individuals adequately instructed in safe operating procedures.

Unless technology is supportive, for the protection against radiation, one should have to follow "Precautions" given and warned by the scientific norms and the manufacturers.
