Hi! May I get some idea about choosing a glovebox between Mbraun, VAC, and Inert? I am conducting Li ion battery related research. I want more on the real feedback after usage. Thanks.
I had to set up our lab glovebox system in a new lab so the growing pains are real. We have a LabmasterPro MBraun unit with an integrated spin coater and evaporation chamber which has worked fine. I think for the most part ANY glovebox system will work great with the right training.
This is the issue however. The MBraun tech did a terrible job getting us ready to use this glovebox. He set our pressure incorrectly so we couldn't evaporate for the first few months because the ambient pressure was set to sea level and our lab is at 4200 ft. I have also found out a wealth of knowledge by talking to customer support in little tid bits of information such as how the manual gives incorrect cleaning techniques for the water sensor, or maintenance schedules really depend entirely with what's being done in the box and should be addressed system by system.
What I suggest to you is that you give the company a full outline for what type of chemistry is going to be done in this box and then let them give you advice for how to use the box.
Sorry if this is a wall of text but i spent the entire summer fixing our glovebox instead of doing chemistry because a few simple oversights made for some really bad results. With just a little bit of training none of those things would have happened.
we have also equipped 3 UHV plateforms (XPS, ToF-SIMS, and XPS/STM) to a Jacomex glovebox. The equipments were made gradually, 2005, 2009 and 2015. The Jacomex system was more flexible for our constraints (space and connexion to UHV), gradually, we have improved also our tender because of the experience with the first glove box.
I think we are working well with our 3 systems, more detailed information if you did. The Jacomex center is located in the region of Lyon in France.
Does anyone have experience with the addition of an extra alarm system, like a light tower outside of the room of the glovebox?
We have a mBraun glovebox and now an alarm is only indicated on the display of the glovebox. We would like to have a system via Wifi so we can be notified of an alarm outside of the room of the glovebox. Or a light tower outside could also help already.
mBraun offers these solutions, but for the price of several thousands of euro...
