All branches of geography - physical geography, cultural geography, etc. As you see GIS has made great advances and it requires quite a bit of statistical knowledge for analyses and thus it behooves the geographer to be well-versed in cross-disciplinary fields and to collaborate with other researchers in different fields such as biology, statistics and engineering.
the geography teacher who holds control in these interdisciplinary disciplines because geography is able to use a variety of considerations (spatial, environmental and regional complex approaches)
Dear Srini Vasan, Thank you for your comments. I absolutely agree with your comment. Geographers should collaborate with statistics and mathematics. However, there is no cooperation in our education system.
I work with Human Geography, - representations about the environment and biodiversity, representations of landscapes. so my major partners are sociologists, psychologists, biologists, and historians. I love working in an interdisciplinary context !!
What an interesting project! I love working with children's drawings to collect information on geographic knowledge. Have you published any articles about your Geography and Foreign Languages work for me to read?
Last year, I made a study on geography subjects in foreign language textbooks (grade11) in our country. I presented my research at the geography education congress and it published later. But it is in Turkish language, it has only an abstract in English. This year I have a new researh and it will also be published in English.
Development of teaching techniques in geography education in Turkey is very new, for that reason we are in search of new methods in geography education. Therefore, we also attach importance to interdisciplinary education.
