Hi Veronika, do you also plan to do some genetic research on rotifer egg bank? e.g. to see if the haplotypes of rotifers did change or not? all the best from Italy, Ulrike
Unfortunately I am not going to study haplotypes. Genetics is not my cup of tea. It could be interesting try it, but is there a problem. The historical samples are all fixed by formaldehyd. The DNA is damaged by formaldehyd, isn't it? It must be fixed by ethanol. I check quickly the article, it is really interesting. Thank you for that. I plan to finish this study about dam Josefův Důl in during the one season (2014), this is my master thesis and after that, I would like to go to PhD study. I am going to finish study rotifers in all dams in the Jizera Mountains in historical context in period of recovery (so analyse all samples from long-term sampling from 1992 to present), evaluated these data and compare them with data from survey of the Bohemian Forest lakes in collaboration prof. Vrba maybe. (It isn´t deal yet) Next, my main field of PhD study should be the water quality of fishponds and possible solution their hypertrophy in relation to zooplankton or other water animals, but it is a first idea and it have to discuss. However, I am open to new ideas to survey and if it would be possible I want to study rotifers too. It could be interesting to do a paleolimnological survey of dams of the Jizera Mountains... because we don´t have older samples from period after the construction some of them (for example: the dam Bedřichov was constructed 1906). Maybe, in the future, we can try something, if you want.
