Dr. Miglani, in principle, this is the primary objective of transdisciplinary research. The assumption is that knowledge obtained related to one particular phenomenon in a given domain of interest may be reused related to the same or similar phenomena in an other domain. For instance, the knowledge concerning the effects of colors on mood has equal role to play in industrial design engineering or in architectural interiour design. But there are hundreds of other examples too. As far as the transfer is concerned, the similarity of the phenomena is a key issue. I believe you need to set some assumptions first to make them the same. If we consider the web/mobile example, which I believe you mean PC/mobile because users can open web browsers on their mobile phones, then you need to consider the following:

1. Social distraction: mobile users are socially more distracted than the PC users. They do not only engage through social network applications, but also can make phone calls and send SMS messages.

2. Volatility: mobile phones are more volatile than the PCs . For example, Users move with their mobile phones, which may interrupt the service or the battery may be discharged.

3. User Experience: users mostly use the keyboard and the mouse on the PC to accomplish their tasks with a big screen and using a chair and a desk. On the other hand, users use tiny-one-finger keyboards and touch screens on the mobile phones and they may take different types of positions. Some users may need to put their glasses while using the mobile phones, but not when using the PC.

What I want to say is that, yes you may generalize but after considering all the assumptions which may impact your dependent variables.
