You have to run cmake in Order to run the example. Geant has an extensive and well maintained documentation, but it's not click and run - so take your time.

$ cd examples/basic/

$ ls

B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 CMakeLists.txt GNUmakefile History README

$ mkdir B1-build

$ cd B1-build/

$ cmake ../B1

[..]

$ make

Scanning dependencies of target exampleB1

[..]

[100%] Built target exampleB1

I've seen this error before. It happens for me when i try to make the program within the source folder.

To fix you need to create a separate build folder and cd into that. Then when you're in that folder run your various make commands and point them to the source folder.

1. Please note that you need to make seperate folder let's say novice01-build in any place say /home/$USER/novice01-build

then follow this

cd novice1-build/

cmake -DGeant4_DIR=$G4INSTALL /path-to-examples/novice/N01

make

./exampleN01
