I have synthesized WO3 promoted vanadium phosphate. How can it be proven from UV-vis analysis that the WO3 remains as W, WO3, WOx, WO3 or xH2O? Can anybody help me in this regard or suggest any other techniques?
Dear Gobinda, UV-visible is not recommended for chemical composition analysis at all and mostly used for optical properties.
you need X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), or X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique to determine about WO3,x or W. Where XPS is the best to detect low concentrations where XRD fails.
Thank you very much for your suggestion. But regarding the electronic transition we can get useful information from UV-vis spectra. Its true that we can't differentiate in which way the material is present in this analysis. Anyway thank you for your reply.
It is best to carry out comprehensive studies using the measurements as optical and structural properties. Such studies complement each other and allows to obtain very important information about the investigated material. As an example of such investigation is a paper which attached.
