Sephadex LH-20 is too expensive. We have silica gel, but I can't find methods on how to fractionate the tannin extract. We are specifically interested in the condensed tannins.
Can someone please provide the method for using silica gel?
This is the method that used sephadex:
freeze-dried extracts were dissolved in water and loaded onto a Sephadex-LH20 column. The column was rinsed with water, low molecular weight tannins were eluted with acetone/water (3:7; v/ v; Fraction 1) and higher molecular weight tannins with acetone/ water (1:1; v/v; Fraction 2).
No promises, but you might try HILIC using acetonitrile (or acetone) and water. The organic solvent is the weak solvent. The water should be acidic. Also, consider polyamide.

Silica gel was definitely not capable of doing phenolic components, polyamide was not useful at the time, macroporous resin was only used by Mitsubishi's dianion HP-20, the most used was reverse phase, Sephadex LH-20, toyopheal and MCI, and these were used back and forth.
I personally suggest ah, the goal is specific to do only a few milligrams, because this definitely ends up all, the less things definitely do, the more points you try to get, because even this last estimates many substances on a milligram scale.How would this have been the case with an NMR above 500 for typing and above 1 mg for c-tracts only to say past

It does not really work. You should to prepare the consistent columns and run a prototype coupled with the trial thermal program on GC, initially. Then, if you do not get a suitable result, you could test some other analytical techniques for prototype step by step. Good luck.

Sephadex-LH20 is a size exclusion material it will elute according to molecular size (you can take molweight as a zero assumption).
All other media disucssed including silica are materials arepolarity interaction materials and elute following polarity of the given compound. So no it is not possible to substitute Sephadex-LH20 by Silica. However, chromatography on Silica might still be usefull, but You get very different fractions
