to forcast some indicator, can we directly forcast Index variable or we have to forcast all the poxies, used to calculate that index to forcast that index. for example to forcast inflation, can we forcast CPI directly or not? please share some reference if anyone have.......thanx

All factors should be considered in constructing the forecast of an index,

Mehru Nisa Firstly, we have to consider assumption of construction of that index.
Then the correlation and/or regression of various factors has to be considered. Then, with the help of past data, we have to validate it and then we can come out with forecast of such index.
