Whether anybody could advice a technique to get foraminiferal tests from the lithified K or Pg deep-sea sediments ? (Where simple washing is not working)
Hi. Instead of washing, Did you try to do thin sections? If there are foraminifera you will have the opportunity to study them. If the material is black need to work carefully. Identifying planktonic foraminifera is not easy but the Manual or Courses by Prof. Isabella Premoli Silva and M. R. Petrizzo ( U. di Milano & U. di Perugia)) are very good, a great job after the first publications of the late Dr. W. Sliter. A classic book with Cretaceous planktonic foraminifera is the Manual of Planktonic foraminifera by J. Postuma, 1971. The benthic can be identified following Fadel, 2008, Larger foraminifera or the book by Bolli et. al, Benthic foraminifera from the South Caribbean (1994). Regards
If you have the opportunity to use a micro-CT scan, try it. Is a non-destructive technique. Everything in the sample will be detected but it take time to analyse and probably expensive
