Recently magnetic nanodisks have shown the use of magnetic vortices for information-states based on 'spin' (https://phys.org/news/2015-03-magnetic-vortices-nanodisks-reveal.html). My first question would be, in general, what kinds of information-states can be associated to vortices in nature. Secondly, what kind of mathematical formalism would be naturally associated to such information states? Thirdly, I would like to learn a bit more about long range correlations between such vortices in physical systems. Please let me know answers/suggestion to any or all of the sections of my expanded query.
