Dear Paul;

I think it's depend on your design but PD fuzzy is better however if you want design PID fuzzy you should design PD fuzzy+PI fuzzy to reduce the number of rule base. I wrote some papers in this field you can follow them .

Can P-Fuzzy alone be implemented with good performance rather than going for PI-Fuzzy??

P-fuzzy alone not give better responses. i have worked on this as per system design controllers are considered for robust response and economically design.
