If this question is precisely answered, it will open the door for new ideas and strategies of modeling thermal and renewable power plants. Most, or let us say, all mathematical models for thermal power stations are used for the sake of studying the behavior of the system under normal and emergency conditions. Also, they can be used for upgrading the control systems. However, some events require the action from protection system of the plant, all protective devices installed will act to isolate the faulty part to save the plant from damage. How this protection system can be integrated in the modeling procedures so that we have complete picture of the plant and accurately know when each controller or protective device will start to behave.

What protection systems are you referring to? We have fire protection systems that we hope to never use. We have online monitoring systems to make sure nothing is overheating or vibrating excessively. We have lubrication pumps, coolers, and filtration systems. We have cooling towers and fans to remove heat. We have scheduled maintenance guidelines. Professor Dudley, I highly appreciate your informative answer and many thanks for the book that you referred to. The protection system I mean is that for the synchronous generator. Protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, incepient faults such as overflux in the machine. In addition to the turbine protection to simulate or validate the power plant behaviour under normal and emergency conditions.
