Is there any guideline for this? I understand the goal, scope, and impact categories should be defined at this point but to how much extent the product system is defined? I wonder if I have to specify the databases I would use, and statistical analysis because once my project is accepted I cannot do many changes to it, and LCA is kind of a loop process with many changes along the way. I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance.

Chtaini Abdelilah when a project thesis is approved by my faculty, you cannot do many changes to it. I am a little bit confused about it because the life cycle assessment is iterative as the standard that Claude mentioned says. In short words, my question could be if it is necessary to mention which databases I'm going to use for the LCA in my thesis project. Because I feel that looking for databases that match with the product system is the LCA itself and not the project of developing it. Thanks for reading, sorry if it is not that clear.

The ISO 1400X norms only talk about the steps of an LCA = Goal, inventory, impact classification
Therefore LCA studies have no value for comparing competitive products. The results can be steered in every direction... LCA studies have their value for in house studies to look for approvements in the production process.
