as already mentioned in a previous question, I want to make my own protein food jelly for my ants. I can exclude a high sugar level as preservative, so someone told my I should try low ph values. Do you know which ph value is still harmless for insects (specifically ponerine antsfarm) but prevents mold growth mostly? I thought about a ph of around 2.0-2.5 is this still harmless? I mean ants also eat fruits and specifically apples have a ph around 3.
