In my recent adsorption experiments with dyes using a fixed-bed column, i have observed that the system dos not reach exhaustion, i.e., complete saturation of the adsorbent bed is not achieved. Consequently, the effluent-to-influent concentration ratio (Cf/Co) remains considerably lower than the values typically reported in the literature (>= 0.9). In my case, the maximum Cf/Co obtained is approximately 0.6.

What potencial factors could be preventing the column from reaching exhaustion, and what strategies could be implemented to overcome this limitation?
