Fatty acid methyl ester analysis on ESI-MS?

Is there a way to improve the ionisation of fatty acid methyl esters on ESI-MS? Will adding DMSO to the mobile phases help? I read that DMSO can improve ionisation of hydrophobic proteins. But has anyone tried to use it for small hydrophobic molecules?
