Dear Research Fellows,
I am a little bit confuse about this Journal "International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications (IJACSA)".
Is it fake or not?
This Journal is listed in Clarivate analyses. So, we cannot call it fake.
It claims being indexed by Thomson Reuters, but it is not listed in JCR, so be careful.
This is not a fake journal
This indexed in WoS (ESCI) but it is a charge full journal for moderate and low quality papers
This is an " ISI-Listed" journal, that is, there is in master journal list Thomson Reuters with coverage "emergency..." but there is not in JCR list. Therefore, this journal is not" ISI" but is an " ISI-Listed" journal.
Dear Khizar Hameed ;
I checked many papers in the archive of this Journal. It is not fake and also they really have review process and even reject low level papers.
My friend already submitted a paper to the IJACSA and the level was almost modest (not weak). Finally, he got the rejection result from this Journal.

@ Nourredine Amardjia ;
It is not valid in the list of JCR due to it has E-SCI index which means that it is under screening by the Clarivate Analytics in order to add as a new SCIE index to the JCR list.

Dear all,
I serve in the editorial board of this Journal and I am a peer reviewer also. We uphold strong ethical tenets and do not compromise standards. Kindly note that we are pursing our Impact Factor/JCR, but the journal is indexed in Clarivate Analytics See URL:

To my own personal views, avoid all Journals that send emails inviting papers for publication. Because most of them are predatory and fake Journals

What is the Emerging Sources Citation Index?
The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) was launched in late 2015 as a new database within Clarivate Analytics’ (formerly Thomson Reuters’) Web of Science. Around 3,000 journals were selected for coverage at launch, spanning the full range of subject areas. As of February 2017, the database contains 5,578 journals, approximately 530 of which are Taylor & Francis journals. This means around 20% of our journals are indexed in the ESCI.
https://editorresources.taylorandfrancisgroup.com/what-is-the-emerging-sources-citation-index/
Why do you answer when you don't have enough knowledge about a specific matter?
@Jamilu Sabi'u;
This journal has the ESCI index, which confirms that is not a fake journal.
I have to mention that i read many articles and news about the ESCI index, all the journals are under screening in this list and if each one does not meet the fundamental requirements of Clarivate Analytics every month, then it will drop the Journal from the ESCI master journal list. The requirements some some conditions, such as plagiarism, relation of references, etc.
If you have access to the webofknowledge.com, you can find all the archives papers of this journal in that.
Please stop to share negative points when you do not have proved information about scientific journals.
To sum up, one of my friends has submitted a paper to this journal, that they send the plagiarism percentage of that paper among two decision letters of reviewers during the revision process.
@peter, thanks for your thoughts. Please do not discourage young academics from publishing their work(s) in good journals indexed in ESCI, Scopus, etc. While I do agree with you on some of your points and claims, I still disagree with you on some of your arguments here. Kindly note that I only review papers for IJACSA occasionally. I am not the EiC, but i have good insight on the journal consistency. I will prefer, that you remain objective in your views rather making generalized statements that seem derogatory and subjective. Obviously, we can't use Wikipedia as basis for scientific judgments as noted in your observations.
Regarding the issue of Master list explanation, Clarivate have indexed IJACSA in their master journals list entry (database profile). Definitely, the journal will have IF with time (like some others), and will be included in JCR with IF, if they remain consistent. Most folks are already aware of this process. Finally, I will call the attention of the EiC on the observed errors.
I will be glad to learn more from you Prof.
Dear Professor @ Peter Breuer ;
I did not mention to your comments in my previous answer.
If you check it again, you can see that i mentioned to Mr @Jamilu Sabi'u.
I also will be glad to learn more from you Prof.
Thank you so much for your nice comments.
I am not 100% sure if they are fake or predatory, but when they publish papers with typos IN THE TITLE (Atheroscelarotic -> Atherosclerotic) it does not seem that papers have gone through a very thorough peer review with high standards:
http://thesai.org/Publications/ViewPaper?Volume=9&Issue=4&Code=IJACSA&SerialNo=6
I think the main criterion is the quality of articles in a journal. It is not enough to be attracted simply by indexation.
The Journal IJACSA has been indexed by ISI since 2015. But it has not got the IF-JCR. I think this will be known soon.
@ Karim:
While I agree with you, such quality journals will naturally apply for being indexed by Clarivate, Scopus, etc. That's why indexing is important. Also, quality can increase or decrease over time, and not everybody is able to quality check all papers in all journals of his/her interest. Anyway, these indices, though not perfect, are made to help.
There was actually a journal called International Journal of Computer Science and Applications (IJCSA) published by Taylor & Francis, a Scopus indexed journal which has coverage starting from 2009-present[1]. While the International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications (IJACSA) started publishing last 2010. In IJACSA website, they claimed to have been indexed by Scopus [2].However, search results showed that they are not[3][4][5]. It is interesting to note that the two journals only differ in the word "Advanced" in its name.

@all....This journal is not fake. I confirmed it. It is registered in both SCOPUS and ISI web of Sciences, In short, this journal is ESCI and soon its Impact Factor will be visible on the website of this journal. Please be Patient.....For further verification and confirmation please find the attached snapshot in pdf form taken from SCOPUS....In Short, it is not a fake journal...Thanks for your Understanding......
@ Orven Ebarle Llantos , Kindly go and do your research well as your facts seems misleading. Adil Khan has said it all. The Journal has been Accepted for Scopus indexing and WoS indexed (
http://mjl.clarivate.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jlresults.cgi?PC=MASTER&ISSN=2158-107X) from the information available to me. Hence, I don't agree with you that IJACSA a fake Journal please.
The journal is NOT indexed by Scopus; see the links below; ISBNs are taken from http://thesai.org/Publications/IJACSA and are the same as Peter Breuer pointed out:

It is very funny that there has been such a long discussion on such a topic when the truth can be revealed by a simple search...
Kennedy Chinedu Okafor , please give time to check the links I have provided in my post. At the time of the posting, IJACSA is not indexed with Scopus as already pointed out by Peter Breuer and Farshid Mossaiby.
With regards to IJCSA and IJACSA, I am just mentioning the two journals as they might cause confusion to other researchers especially that their names differ only in "Advanced". Certainly, IJCSA indexed in Scopus is not IJACSA.
Dear all, I am not an advocate for either IJCSA or IJACSA. I only serve as a Reviewer but have received notification of IJACSA being Accepted for indexing in 2018 (take note). Peter Breuer and Farshid Mossaiby are clearly referring to 2017 Scopus updates list NOT 2018 please (See https://www.scopus.com/sources). The updated list for 2018 is NOT yet made public by Scopus (https://www.scopus.com/sources) maybe in 2019 as usually the case.
For purposes of clarification and avoidance of doubts, you can write directly to the EiC: [email protected] or contact Scopus directly via [email protected] & [email protected]
I will be glad to put this issue to rest as I believe in academic integrity while willing to learn at all times.
Thanks for all the views expressed here.
Dear Peter Breuer,
I am sure we are all trying to make a simple point. Kindly refer to my previous mail and write to Scopus as advised. Secondly, the same way you went to Scopus, i did so and found the attached as my evidence. I have confirmed all the published articles In the Attached document from Scopus. Certainly, you are referring to 2017 indexed metrics. Please check the right corner on the URL (https://www.scopus.com/sources) and search the drop down menu to see 2018 indexing. What you will only find is 2017 coverage as 2018 is NOT active. This means that they have not updated 2018. This is because 2018 coverage has not elapsed (4 months remaining).
Sorry for these analysis( just to correct a possible oversight here). These are my evidences. Beside, I have written to Scopus on this issue and will revert soonest. Remember to carefully look at the attached.
My Dear,
It is not fake, you can see
https://journals.indexcopernicus.com/search/details?id=18944
scopus alone can not determine if a journal is fake or not. I follow journals that have traceable records and possibly traceable to any institution. I a journal is approved in a country and not on scopus, I can not call it fake.
Dear Engr Cosmas,
Certainly, Scopus does not have sole monopoly on Journal validity, but we know that it is the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, having scientific journals, books/conference proceedings, & covering research topics across all scientific and technical disciplines. It is clear that majority of Scopus indexed journals are valid, authentic, reliable and sound. Such journals have higher scientific quality as compared to non-indexed Journals. Similarly, SCimago and Clarivate Analytics Indexed/IF Journals follow ethical procedures to generate scientific literature/s. Any journal approved by a country & not found in either Scopus, SCimago or Clarviate Analytics/WoS is not considered a quality Journal even though such journals might not be fake in context. Usually, top funding agencies, scholarship bodies, tenureship, ranking bodies, etc., do not consider journals outside Scopus, SCimago or Clarviate Analytics/WoS domain. Even though a country's approved journal is not Fake, as long as it is indexed, such journal stand to be discriminated in selected contexts. I hope you understand my points. Regards.
Dear Prof Peter, Khizar and others,
Please find below a mail sent to me by Scopus ( [email protected]) :
Dear Dr.Kennedy Chinedu Okafor,
Thank you for your email regarding the Journal entitled : "International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications (2156-5570) "
Please be advised that this Journal is indexed and still active in Scopus. The Scopus Journal home page gets updated twice in a year.

Once the page gets update the present coverage years shall reflect as well.
Should you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

First of all, you must check if its index in Scopus or SJR (using journal title or ISSN) then conclude . see link below
https://www.scopus.com/sources?zone=&origin=NO%20ORIGIN%20DEFINED
https://www.scimagojr.com/journalrank.php
Prem pal Singh, this is always a good question ;-)
https://thinkchecksubmit.org
They check paper thoroughly like noval idea, specially latest related work with latest references , a good paper after numbers of time revision select for publication.
This journal is not fake I have published my paper in this journal, over clarivative analysis a link on web of science and IJACSA can be seen in list of journals.
Within the Scopus website, if you search with the "source title" criteria and place the name of the journal "International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications," the indexed papers of the IJACSA journal will be listed.
Check this transcript, Clarivate Analytics Customer Care. (Everyone check this)
Avoid that journal ....they claim they are listed in Scopus...but they are not
IJACSA has been accepted for indexing in the Thomson Reuters Emerging Sources Citation Index,
the publisher is Science and Information (SAI) Organization,
I have attended and participated in one conference which was organized by SAI in London in 2015 and presented paper there, you can check the link https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7237272
Dear Peter Breuer,
You are absolutely right, what I have meant is that this journal is not fake!
Why do we call it fake ? just because it is a new journal in the field !
is it permissible to defame this journal just because it is under evaluation process??
See with the visibility of this journal: citation, references...

This Journal is listed in Clarivate analyses. So, we cannot call it fake.
Dear Khizar Hameed ,
This is not a 'fake' journal, rather a newly-launched (for about 8 years) journal. Also, it is indexed by Web of Science in ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) category since 2015. This ESCI is a good category for journals that are emerging towards achieving their impact factors by Web of Science in the future. You can call this ESCI category as a 'waiting list for impact factor'' by Web of Science. However, even without having impact factor, these ESCI journals are still counted as Web of Science document or the so-called 'ISI document'. Just for your information, the so-called 'ISI' is actually the Web of Science which was previously maintained by Thomson Reuters but now Clarivate Analytics is maintaining it.
On the other hand, as per my observation, the journal has been indexed by Scopus just on this year (2018). As a result, it will have impact factor after having a continuous coverage of at least 2 more years in Scopus.
Therefore, it seems like a promising journal for the future rather than a fake one.
If you have confusion about any journal either it is fake or not, please use this list of suspected journals:

May Allah guide us.
This journal has been added to Scopus 2018 list as see attached.
The question is: does that mean its not Fake?
Thanks Fawzi for the current update. I am waiting for their IF soon.
Right. If the peer review process is unreliable like that, it can be categorized as a fake journal.
And scholars, let's try to publish our articles in highly-reputed journals. We are scholars advancing science, not a writing (or publication) machine. Quality is more valued than quantity.
it is not indexed in the SJR. ranking list !! unlike what they posted on their home page !! it is weird !! and i checked all the sites that give the impact factor of journals, it is not there !!??
Is it expected SCOPUS to make changes to indexing the journals?
