Temperature and quantity of of acidogenic bacteria and methanogenic bacteria play vital role. Bacteria here is not catalytst but as good as reactants.
There are two temperature zones for Biogas production first is mesophillic (Temperature range 30 degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius) and Thermophillic range 55 degrees Celsius to 58 degrees Celsius) .It is very difficult to get optimized quantity of Biogas production in winter season.
The bacterial community activity is optimal in mesophilic (35-40°C) and thermophilic conditions (50-60°C). It depends also on substrate characteristics : its pH, alkalinity and C/N ratio.

Among the factors that affect anaerobic digestion we can mention temperature, humidity, pH, substrate composition (organic compounds, inorganic compounds,e.g. sulfides).
