Before describing conversion it is mandatory to understand solar panel... what is it ? Actually solar panels are nothing but it is made of several solar cells and solar cell are made made of semiconductor like silicon. Solar cell having positive and a negative film of silicon placed under a thin slice of glass. Solar cells are connected by thin wire to circuit. As light (photons) hit the semiconductor, light is converted into electricity that flows through the circuit. As soon as the light is removed, the solar cell stops producing power.
