Here is the question I want to know:

With freezing stress, zeaxanthin will synthesis in the dark. Obviously, the reason of the accumulation of Z could be divided in two ways, one is the up-regulation process from V to Z; another is the down-regulation process from Z to V. In these two ways, I think controlling the de-epoxidation up is relied on VDE activity up, however, the epoxidation down is relied on ZE activity down and the content of substrates, likes NADPH. Although the lower luminal pH is important in VDE physiological character, it's ultimately influencing the activity of VDE.

In conclusion, I want to know is this hypothesis comprehensive? Are there other possibilities to influence the xanthophyll cycle?
