I’m curious. I’m a Brazilian biologist and writer. I signed up in the RG at the end of 2017 and, in recent weeks, I followed some discussions involving evolutionary theory. I write about the subject and would like to know the opinion of colleagues from other fields of knowledge (and from other countries).
Darwin’s whole theory of evolution by natural selection bears an uncanny resemblance to the political economic theory of early capitalism as developed by the Scottish economists.Darwin had some knowledge of the economic survival of the fittest because he earned his living from investment in shares.
I agree with Kenneth Towe to wit: Natural selection is part of Darwinism which is part of biological evolution so the three constitute a single overall evolutionary concept. There may be other evoutionary concepts but that of Darwin seems to offer as complete, consistent and coherent description of how plants bloom and animals scramble about as we might hope for.
Biological evolution is a factual process, Darwinism is its scientific description, natural selection is its mechanism.
Natural selection demands the so called "lost links". Where are they?
