Within sustainability and sustainable management, many authors propose some solutions such as stop consuming, produce with rudimentary techniques, return to times before the industrial revolution to avoid the present environmental damage. The question is without trying to justify the current form of production if is it feasible to return to tiny levels of consumption and pollution? On the other hand, environmental innovation can be a solution?

Innovation aimed not only at reducing environmental impacts but also leads to reduced impacts without this being an explicit aim. In that sense, normal innovations that have a positive environmental effect are also counted as eco-innovations. As mentioned by OECD, eco-innovation may be environmentally motivated, but may also occur as a side-effect of other goals, such as complying with regulations and norms, increasing productivity, reducing input costs (and hence production costs). Thus, normal innovation should also be considered as a potential eco-innovation. Moreover, innovations need not have an environmental aim in either the development phase or the use of the product/process. They just have to be better than their alternatives on a life cycle basis. According to the contributors to the MEI project, the concept of eco-innovation should not be limited to new or better environmental technologies, which results in every environmentally-improved product or service counting as an eco-innovation.

Yes. I agree with your suggestion. Well, going back to the times before the industrial revolution by giving up the production and consumption of many goods is a very unlikely scenario to solve the key global problems of the growing level of environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Well, in order to avoid the negative effects of the development of civilization, to reduce the scale of environmental pollution and reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions, to protect the nature and climate of the planet Earth, a more realistic solution is to create new environmental innovations, eco-innovations, pro-ecological technologies and their implementation into economic processes.
