Various models like Apprenticeship model, BID model, Koen's Model, One Minute Preceptor (OMP), 4C/ID model etc have been previously utilized for surgical resident's training. Dynamics of student learning and resident learning, however, in operating room are significantly different. Which models of learning are appropriate for medical student's learning in Operating Room and why?
We are trying to establish the role of structured learning process of a medical graduate in Operating Room (OR) setting and trying to analyze the potential role of various models being currently used for surgical resident training in OR-based learning of a medical student.

OR as classroom is an exciting concept. But, whenever students are taught in OR there are certain practical difficulties such as no defined /preset objectives, failure to take the enthusiasm continuously and a perceived 'adverse' environment for teaching. So, this has to overcome several obstacles (fear, intimidation, humiliation, not feeling inclusive) to achieve a satisfactory learning. Int J Med Educ. 2019; 10: 75–87 .
Having a clear goal (eg: students to understand the procedure of Herniorrhaphy), background sessions (anatomy / pathology / surgery), orientation, demonstration of steps / structures during surgery and debriefing would strengthen the 'OR as classroom' concept a favorite tool among students.
