A respect for, and interest in, the students' languages.

I guess that they would include qualities such as;

Confidence, empathy, a clear speaker, able to think on one's feet, humor, intelligence, and most of all, patience.

I know this isn't ten, but I would say these are the basic skills/traits of a good ESL teacher.

-should be patient and tolerant.

-should know other cultures.
