What interpretation can I give to the table of values attached to EDS. It is the result of my sample showing the shell (K,L,M...) of the various elements in composite nanoparticles were found?
The main element in composite nanoparticles are Fe, O and Au. Si is from the substrate and C is a contamination from the SEM.
Unfortunately the spectra only tells you that Au and Fe are there on the substrate in certain % ratio -- did you not image the EDS signals? Does not say anything about the particles being core-shell or for that matter, as this is energy dispersive EDS, I would suggest not to try to make much of this data. A better way would be to get these particles on a grid and try to look under a HR EDS that comes with TEM. You would probably get more accurate % composition as well.
