When a EDLcapacitor is charging and discharging we get a rectangular CV (Ideal case). So, is the whole positive sweep considered as charging? Say we have a capacitor which works in the potential range of -0.5 to +0.5. So during the sweep from -0.5 to +0.5 is it charging. Or is it charging only from 0 to +0.5? I always understand this as charging from -0.5 to +0.5, but I don't understand why the CV curve does not start from -0.5 to 0 and 0 to +0.5 separately and simultaneous and then later merge?? We always see one line charging from -0.5 to +0.5 instead!?

The charging mechanism should be from when the plot rises from the negative current to the highest point in positive current - for an ideal capacitor this is usually instantaneous, thus in your case this is at -0.5 V. The charge in the supercapacitor is then held as the potential is sweeped from -0.5 to +0.5 V and then the device is immediately discharged at +0.5 V to the negative current.

Thanks! What specific changes happen at the negative voltage end (-0.5 to 0) and at the positive voltage end (0 to +0.5)---- solely with respect to the negative and positive electrode?! i.e. is there any connection between the negative potential range (0to -0.5) and the Negative ELECTRODE??
Also, have you ever come across anyone calling cathode and anode for the electrodes in a supercapacitor? I always stick to the term [positive and negative! What do you say
