Hi everyone,

I have a question for my fellow scientist in the sol gel community,

I wanted to know if there are known interaction between acids and sol gel coatings (is it possible for a cured sol gel coating, eg silica, to be attacked by an acid).

I thought that these coatings would be "inert" when they are fully cured but it doesn't seems so, I wanted to know if there was literature about this issue?

another way to put it, is it possible for an organic acid to break bonds in a silica coating (cured from a sol gel solution).

thank you
