Some scientists believe that questions are more valuable then the answers. Overall I agree with that statement and would like to propose why that is.
I do think that the one major reason that, Lets say, Physicists Holding an academic position, would like to hold a question open in physics for as long as possible, is due to the economic aspect of it. That is despite knowing the answer to that question in high degree of certainty or complete certainty.
As long as the question is open, the Holder of an academic position can ask for grants, conferences, Salaries, and so on. It's not in their first interest to close the gate for their financial prosperity. Closing a question would mean they will need to find another question, which might be problemic if the number of questions in a given field is finite.
For that reason I believe that True breakthrough will appear from those do not holding a position. Similar to what happened in 2021-2022.
The Key Axioms I made are simple:
i. Economic Prosperity in academy is due to existence of open questions
ii. Due to Axiom i, the Insiders would like to withhold/ progress to ensure the flow budget.
