The year 2020 has been difficult for researchers, educators, and students. COVID-19 changes the perspectives of Education into an online-based approach. For many of us, adapting service-learning and learners' engagement in a digital age could be challenging. Since most researchers attempted to bring a sense of humanity into their classroom, How could we implement service-learning activities and engagement theories when we can’t physically see a student’s face or hear their voice? And what are the activities you suggest as a researcher?

We are using Teams for lectures and seminars and making the most of the interactive tools for live lectures. My team's systematic review a few years ago on online teaching showed that live teaching (synchronous) is much better for engagement and reproduction of learning than asynchronous, but that stronger students get more out of asynchronous learning than weaker students. So, we are finding ways to make syncrhonous teaching as interactive as possible: using polling for asking questions, chat and questions boxes, even group rooms. students appear to be benefitting from these.
