During the thin film NEG getter activation, why the passivation layer’s molecules are diffused into the film instead evaporated, extracted or departed from the surface? Why is the diffusion happening ?
NEG stands for Not Evaporable Getter! The energy needed to evaporate the NEG
material is much higher than the diffusion energy.

Yes, NEG stands for Not Evaporable Getter but I mean the passivation layer that consist of oxides, carbids etch occured naturally not the whole getter. Why this passivation layer gets into the film instead of departs from the surface?
