You can try to check some parameters that affect intensities with dependecy on HKL. They are in general: Scattering factor, site occupation factor SOF, atom coordinates x,y,z and displacement parameter of atoms (average amplitude in oscillation of atom j) for your major phases in the diffractogram.

The major source of high intensity in powder XRD (PDXRD) is micro-strain or preferred orientation or maybe anisotropic behavior of some elements. The problem can be solved in the following manner. Firstly, the powder (especially when sintered at high temperature) forms agglomerates, thus one would like to make sure the powder is finely crushed before XRD experiment. Secondly, its also possible that sample contains micro-stain (generally induced due to fast cooling) that can be minimized by annealing the powder at rather lower temperature, and still the stain is there (would be visible in the form of asymmetric XRD profiles), one can try to refine the data with introducing strain parameters. Thirdly, the preferred orientation would be visible if the particle size is too large and the x-ray is falling onto that specific region or there is inherent directional growth (materials property ). In this case, one might try to do XRD on the region (surface area) where we have well distribution of grains of different sizes otherwise (if its inherent property) we can add preferred orientation parameters while doing refinement. Last, the presence of anisotropy (with respect to the structure), generally, this effect is more diverse and will affect other physical properties of material such as structure factor an so. However, in this case, first we can introduce directional thermal parameters (B11, B12, B13...) followed by tuning other parameters.
