The density of methane hydrate is close to that of water (about 0.95g/cm3 for hydrate and 1g/cm3 for water). It can be shown that for a system of100 cm3 water in 300cm3 reactor the maximum variation in the gas volume (water volume increase) due to hydrate formation is always below 3 percent.

Thanks Dr. Ganji. We also got approximately 2.7% increase in volume. Do you have any reference paper?
