Dear Scientific Community;

I would like your opinions on the disadvantages associated with SPARQL querying. Specifically the computational cost aspect. Execution planning, query optimization and etc...

My point is I am trying to justify, Natural Language-based (i.e. English) questioning from an ontology is very costly (For non-technical consultants). As first, accurate English to SPARQL mapping is there, then SPARQL query execution planning and optimization efforts ..... Computational Cost of it?

I am trying to emphasize, First Order Logic-based querying would be much more efficient than SPARQL querying on an RDF or OWL ontology. Any insights on this ??

Are there ways to do it? (FOL based querying for an ontology supported with English?)

Thanking in advance for your kind advice.

Kind Regards
