I am not talking about the limit of mathematics or. Physics but about the limit of combining them to make wonders such these 2 theories. Despite their issues they are the lighthouses of physics.
Still maybe they are the last expression of genuiys childs from the marriage, as for 30 years and tens of millions of dollars research no unified or underliing theory with better or more fundamental mathematics has been found..
The short answer is No. And QM is much more than an application of the theory of differential equations, as is GR. The resolution of spacetime singularities-that are predicted by GR, isn't a mathematical issue, it's a physical issue. It will be the discovery of what are the appropriate physical degrees of freedom that will indicate what is the mathematical framework that is appropriate for describing them.
QM doesn't have any particular outstanding mathematical issues-it's quantum field theory that poses mathematical challenges. But this doesn't mean that there's any issue of principle involved.
