Thermoelectric material is a part of semiconductor science and studying basics of superconductor materials, you would get all basics applying to any thermoelectric materials you are working with. Thus go to library and pick up books on Electrical Materials or on Solid State Physics. Look on Google Search and you would be home. Also look at the Mats Res Society Symposium Vol 1543 April 2013 which deals with science and engineering of thermoelectric materials.

The efficiency of thermoelectric materials depends on Seebeck coefficient, thermal and electrical conductivity at the operating temperature, and whether it is p or n type depending upon doper.

You have not said any thing about our project or on the thermoelectric material you are going to work with, and thus not knowing, it is difficult to comment. However, I wish you all the best.

If u r working on p type material, based on the materials inherent property u can use doping effects to improve ots thermoepectric property.eg:if carrier concentration is low …dope less valence atoms to create holes and in general u need high sigma,High seebeck and low thermal comductivity to acheive high thermoelectric figure of merit(zT)
