If a hydraulic jump is formed in a rectangular channel/flume , then does the location of the jump depends upon the channel l/flume length or does it depend only upon the upstream and downstream depths of the channel , inlet Froude's no. and bed slope and NOT on the channel length?

The position of the hydraulic jump has no relation to the length of the stilling basin in which it evolves. Take for example a hydraulic jump which is generated by a sluice gate in two channels of different lengths. You may find upstream hydraulic conditions, including the incident Froude number, such as the position of the two hydraulic jumps, counted from the sluice gate, to be the same. The only condition on the length of the channel is that it be sufficient for the formation of the hydraulic jump.

I too later realized the fact that , the inlet Froude number and inlet conditions along with the bed slope should be the variables on which the jump location depends. More over I realized that , the sub critical flow condition may exist to longer distances after the jump, thus removing my doubts further.
Subham Pal, the important parameters are explained by other scholars. To study the real length of a hydraulic jump I would consider enough length to ensure the jump is formed not due to phenomena, particularly for free flow.
