Lithium bromide is a salt that absorbs moisture and is used with water as an adsorbent in adsorption chillers.
Some people claim that this compound loses water absorption after a while and reduces the efficiency of chillers.
Is this claim valid?
And if this claim is accepted, what could be the reason?
Are there any special things happening to the crystal structure of this material ?! or is there another reason?
And how is this valuable material resurrected and returned?
Is it possible to revive?

Bromide anion can react with ozone to from bromate. (This forced the Los Angeles Water Department to drain two reservoirs and cover them with black plastic floating "shade balls" because bromate was forming).
So if there is some ozone (from the electrical equipment?) and the lithium bromide solution from water adsorption, this might slowly form bromate ion. The Lithium Bromate will have a different hygroscopic character than the Lithium Bromide. Detection of bromate is usually by ion chromatography.
The only fix would be to replace the salt with fresh lithium bromide.
