Moreover, you might want to follow the history of the Internet from the early days of the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency NET). The ARPANET was meant to be a facilitator of university and research labs members to form a community by which they could together dialog about research problems of common interest. I briefly remember using it in this way and it was both experimental and rather cumbersome to use. Over the years the ARPANET of the past has become completely different in terms of today's rather ubiquitous Internet, though it still can be used in part as was originally intended. The original ARPANET did not take into account the major problems of today's security and privacy issues. Today it seems nearly impossible due to our own bounded rationality to make the INTERNET completely secure and private. We have found the latter to be demonstrated in today's cyber warfare.
