It appears that there is a lack of knowledge regarding the function of the immune system in brain dead individuals who are maintained on life support. I am interested in understanding whether the immune system remains intact or if it deteriorates with time. More specifically, how long can a brain dead individual be kept on life-support and possess an intact immune system?
