As you know that a lot of scientists, PhD researchers and professors have been uploaded and added their scientific published papers (pdf version) on their research gate accounts for faciliting reading, uploading and descovering new works for other reseachers. My question is: Does this method affect significantly on th future submissions and scientific contributions of these researchers in different journals or no?. therefore, How editors of these journals deal with this method?
Abdullah - I would argue that it does not affect future submissions. Established and popular journals will not be able to keep track of individual researchers. As long as researchers are not consistently 'flouting' copyright conventions to the detriment of publishing house revenue i.e. posting article proofs before they have had a period of time in print form - then the publishing houses probably realise that they have to 'live with' the current academic social media situation. Elsevier brought Mendeley for this very reason - but I can't see other companies following similar suit soon.
