When submitting an article online to a journal, one is asked to suggest reviewers for the article. I wonder if this process is truly blindfolded? In this does the entire review process remain unbiassed?
I am not against this formality. Of course it helps a lot to the editorial board to complete the review process especially when the journal include submission from different specialties, when the editor would find it difficult to choose the reviewer. Meanwhile, if the author suggests reviewer of his/her own circle, is there any mean to eliminate this bias?
