The spectrophotometer available in our laboratory is a Cecil CE 2501 model.
Unfortunately, the UV lamp of the device is about to run out, and we are currently unable to replace the UV lamp immediately.
I wonder if i can ask some questions about this instrument.. My questions are as follows:
1· When the UV lamp runs out, will the device no longer allow the use of spectrophotometer in visible wavelengths (tungsten lamp will still be working or not)?
2· Does this device have the ability to temporarily remove the UV lamp from the circuit by an expert from the legal agency and use the device only with a tungsten lamp?
I will be grateful for your help in advance.
I don't know the optics of the articular instrument but typically the UV source plays no role when measuring in the Vis range. That is, the UV lamp can be left in place until replaced
Unless you use a wavelength that needs the UV lamp it does not matter.
