Dear RG Colleagues, Social media have become a massive part of today’s society, the question is: Does social media destroy the quality of human interaction?
The use of social media has both positive and negative consequences. It is amazing how someone can find a long-lost friend through a social media, enabling them to reconnect. In a society where people have become quite mobile and family and friends are often geographically separated, it is convenient to keep in touch through technology.
However, one need not look far to find problems associated with social media. There is a lively debate about whether social media addictions are real. it appears to be a real problem (perception is often reality in a social context) with which people have to grapple. Some assert that these Web sites contributed to cheating on significant others, often leading to divorce. People have been fired from their jobs or put under pressure because they use social media at work or because something is posted on a site that undermined the person’s professional standing.

Thank you for sharing the question. In my opinion, the problem is not social media itself but the way people use it. I do not think that the impact of social media on social skills is so important.
Thank you, I agree with Musab and Aristidis. Social media offer opportunities, but they are abused by special People. E.g. many "tweeds" of D.T. are examples of "inhuman interactions", lacking "quality" in the strict sense of the word, but they show a new quaity or an "alternate quality" as the people around D. T. would say.
Every thing on Earth has a double usage, one could be RIGHT and the other is BAD, so this statement may be applied on social media! I think it is affecting but not destroying.
It is not the social media itself but its abuse which negatively affects the quality of human interactions as the case with many new communication applications.
