In recent times the world has witnessed changes that reflects technological, economical, religious and fundamentally cultural typhoons of unprecedented magnitude. The most hit as presently diagnosed is perhaps not the economic crisis of a global nature. As Pope Benedict XVI has repeatedly called on the need for ethics in economy τ̲̅ȍ foerstall further damage τ̲̅ȍ the fabric of humanity's survival, it is pertinent τ̲̅ȍ wonder and rightly S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴͡ if and when post-modern humanity would take heed τ̲̅ȍ accept the perennial need of religion nay right cultural values, including religion and ethics τ̲̅ȍ on once again guide us τ̲̅ȍ peace, prosperity and progress that is worthy of any technical progress.
Am not sure that religion will serve usefully us going forward. Superstitious beliefs need to come to an end--perhaps not religion, but superstitious beliefs serve no one usefully.
We need leaders--as we always do--to guide us along a path toward an increasing rational, logical, knowledge-seeking and enlightened way of life.
Religion will always have a place in the public sphere much as human longing has been with us ever since in the beginning. Religion, as a "binding force", actually recreates our pursuit to self-fulfillment - and it is not about "opium". To displace religion in the public sphere is to do injustice to ourselves because of the human longing we have. Even the technical progress we have are "models" of the human longing we have. It is therefore dangerous if these "models" would be used against human longing by means of injustice. Religion is faith + practice, all because of our human longing that needs perfection and completion.
Naturellement, la religion a sa place a sa place dans la vie publique. Puis qu'elle définie la vision du monde. C'est la religion qui est à la base des conviction des homme tant il vrai que chaque être est bâti sur un socle myticoéthique. L'être humain est essentiellement religieux quoi qu'on dise.
Sure, in public yes but in Government no! Assuming atheists are in the minority, many of us humans choose to wear our religion on our cuffs and sleeves. Ready to whip it out to establish superiority in perception when interacting with other humans. The challenge is, rather than look at what is common and binding among us most of us choose to focus on what differentiates us. The word "public" by definition is associated with "commonality" and co-existence but our use of religion in public is more for individual distinction and posturing (divisiveness). There is a supercilious nature to religious protagonists very unbecoming of them and antithetical to the tenants of the religion usually. Doesn't bother me one bit in public (by my upbringing). I remain pretty open-minded.
