I want to model stage construction of a mine tailings dam and want to alter both the hydraulic conductivity and the modulus of elasticity so that I can better account for the thickness of the soil layers and the excess pore pressure that causes reduced strength.
Using the fully coupled analysis and for the mechanical part of the problem, Plaxis will account for the variation of the volumetric strains and as a consequence for the variation in e with time. Any advanced constitutive model in Plaxis (Hardening Soil for example) will have the stress-dependency stiffness feature. However, I am not so sure about the hydraulic part of the problem, if Plaxis accounts for the variation of permeability with varying void ratio or not. Indeed, I suspect that as in the input I do not see a way to provide such a relationship.
If you select advanced option (e.g. in soft soil creep model) you can introduce variations of permeability with void ration. You can introduce Ck value for this purpose. I hope that helps.
The Ck value would account for permeability variation with the elastic compressibility. Again, I am not so sure what would happen when the problem is dominated by elastoplasticity?
