The polycrystalline CIGS or CdTe based solar cells outperform their counter part single crystal devices since the beneficial grain boundaries (GBs) helps to avoid recombination of electrons and holes and thus increases the photocurrent & efficiency.  does it possible to convert GBs in diamond
