The controller can be designed based on ISE/IAE/IATE optimal or H2 optimal or LQR optimal control. Such controller try to improve transient response with the controller by penalizing error in different sense.

My question is, does these controller also minimizes control energy or do we have to use another design constraints to achieve minimal control energy? If so then what are methods to optimize control energy?
