Do you suggest chemical ways for controlling this beetle, if the other ways don't work well and also, the population of it grow high and fast at the flowering time of pears tree?
Meligethes aeneus is a pest of oilseed rape and Brassica spp. They occur in large numbers mainly feeding on pollens of flowers. In rapes that are in full bloom the adults feed on the pollen causing no damage. However, at times of the year, when its breeding hosts are not in flowering stage, such adults will feed on the flowers of different plant species causing no damage. So, it is hoped that since the beetle is not a pest of pear plant it will not be harmful.
