We have synthesized a Ni doped ZnO thin film, there is sharp variation in the morphology, why is this obtained? Is it because of the localized oscillation of electrons? If it is, how does it influence the structural morphology?
Not sure about Ni/Fe/Co. But one thing that I am thinking is, surface plasmon resonance SPR (is that what you refer localized electron oscillation?) happens only in nanoparticles (not in bulk materials or films). The particle size (in nanometers) should be less than the wavelength of the radiation (nanometers) that cause the SPR.
Or if you could think of what is the energy that causing the electron oscillation. They do need some energy to go to excited state (oscillation), don't they? If I am not talking so silly, try to figure out the wavelength of the energy, that hits the electrons.
Is that the influence of localized electron oscillation in the formation of nucleation seeds during the synthesis of thin films.
I am not talking about the process happening on the surface after formation.
Whether the electrons plays the role in formation of nano structures, During the synthesis? Because there is enough energy to excite the electrons by the means of operating the temperature in spray pyrolysis.
In Ni-Fe-Co system you luckily got magnetic interaction between particles in in sol gel slurry which induces some film pattern. kT should not induced localized oscillation of electrons due to solid state physics
The morphology is depended on the material itself and your growth thermodynamics. Before you consider electron oscillation, have you characterized the thin film with XRD or Raman? I assume you are doing this work for sensor (FBAR) fabrication, so the thickness could allow you run such structural characterization. The sharp variation of morphology could be a result of failure of doping, i.e. Ni/Fe/Co oxides (depends on how much have you doped) or the co-presence of ZnO and MxZnyOz. As you are using spray Pyrolysis method, the preparation of sol and temperature of sintering are crucial, or it might return you some weird results.
I suggests you to do XRD or Raman first. After all, I have no idea about your samples and results. Besides, you can read some textbook and case study about spray Pyrolysis method.
